In a ceremony held on Independence Day, a new 1×3 classroom block was officially handed over to Kafwasonyi primary school, marking a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve education.
The Guest of Honour, Mangango Member of Parliament, Honourable Luhamba Mwene, stressed the importance of quality education in shaping the future of the constituency.
Honourable Mwene said government through Constituency Development Fund (CDF) initiative prioritised the construction of the new classroom at Kafwasonyi in order to enhance the learning experience for pupils.
“As the nation celebrates its 60th independence anniversary, the construction of this classroom block by the government serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in education for a brighter future. The new classroom block is also a reflection of our government’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for our learners,” said Honourable Mwene.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Kafwasonyo, Village Headman Mr. Lusulo Lusulo expressed gratitude to the government for constructing a classroom block in his village.
“We appreciate the government’s commitment to investing in the future of our community and we are confident that this facility will have a positive impact on our children’s educational outcomes,” Mr. Lusulo said.
Mr. Likonge Mwanaumo, the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) representative, expressed similar gratitude to the government for its efforts in meeting the urgent demand for high-quality educational facilities.
“We want to thank the government for this facility that will increase access to quality education, reduce overcrowding and provide modern amenities that will foster academic excellence,” said Mr. Likonge.
The new classroom block, which was constructed at a cost of K839, 000, consists of an office block, 80 double sitter desks and solar-powered lights.
The handing over of the classroom block was preceded by a series of Independence Day celebrations, football games and cultural performances.
