CHONGWE – President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his government’s unwavering dedication to addressing national issues, demonstrating the United Party for National Development (UPND’s) commitment to a transparent and people centered administration.
Speaking at the Chakwela Makumbi traditional ceremony of the Soli speaking people, President Hichilema proudly emphasized the New Dawn government zero tolerance stance on land grabbing, a stance welcomed by communities long impacted by illegal land seizures.
He highlighted his appointment of Minister Silvia Masebo as Minister of Lands, a strategic move reflecting the UPND’s prioritisation of community rights and its proactive approach to resolving complex land issues across Zambia.
President Hichilema also took the opportunity to reiterate his administration’s landmark achievement in education reform, where the government has ensured that every Zambian child can attend school through the implementation of free education.
The President reminded the crowd of the UPND’s commitment to equality and accessibility, declaring, “Every child has the right to be in school,” as his government breaks down barriers for Zambia’s future generations.
With farmers facing the pressures of low rainfall, President Hichilema acknowledged the challenges in agriculture and electricity generation, commending Zambian farmers for their hard work and resilience while reiterating the government support for them in these difficult times.
He also issued a warning against deforestation, linking it to the UPND’s broader agenda for sustainable development, noting that climate protection is critical to both Zambia’s agriculture and energy security.
In a firm stance on financial accountability, the President cautioned against the misuse of Constituency Development Funds (CDF), emphasizing the UPND’s zero tolerance policy on corruption and affirming that his administration will ensure justice for any misuse of public resources.
Concluding his address, President Hichilema honoured Chieftainess Mukamambo Mkomesha the 2nd, commending her steadfast leadership and underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening traditional authorities as pillars of community development and cultural preservation in Zambia.
